Long before the battle for the heart and soul of the Islamic world spilled out of the Middle East and into downtown Manhattan and elsewhere, some of us were pursuing the advancement of Islamic Reformation, akin to what was achieved in Western Europe beginning with the Renaissance through the Age of Enlightenment to the near total secularization of Europe's modern political culture. We have a very long way to go. But don't think it can be done? Oh yee of little faith! The wheels of history turn slowly, inexorably but they do turn! Slowly, reluctantly, intermittently, if not resentfully, it is and has been happening for many, many years, well before the administration's so-called War On Terror.
